ORGANIZATIONAL VALUES Public service will be based on community needs, quality, timeliness, effectiveness, and citizen satisfaction. We will seek to recognize every customer contact, both internal and external, as an opportunity to serve and improve his or her situation and/or welfare in a positive and satisfactory manner.
Standards of performance will be based on measurements of quality, effectiveness, efficiency, and competence, with emphasis on the safety and welfare of citizens and department personnel. We will respond to all requests for assistance safely, promptly, and efficiently.
Quality communications are essential to the effective operation of the department. Verbal communications will be clear, courteous, and easy to understand. Written communications will be clear, concise, and understandable. Nonverbal communication should match the intended message. Active listening skills will be practiced.
We are accountable for meeting the responsibilities established for ourselves, our coworkers, the organization, the community, and our profession for fulfilling the department mission.
Our leadership and management style will be progressive, consistent, and adaptable to change. We shall demonstrate leadership and management skills by setting the example and using accurate information to make decisions. Effective leadership depends on effective followership. As followers, we will respond with trust and respect when deserved.
